On paper, the Phillies should be much better than what they’ve put on the diamond but “on paper” means nothing in a shortened 60-game season.
They continue to be a disappointment after landing Bryce Harper in 2019.
The Phillies would need a miracle to catch the Braves and their remaining seven games are against the Nationals and Rays. With a 73 percent chance to make the postseason, they may be able to wake up and make a decent playoff run, but their chances to win the NL East are all but gone.
