
Legal Pennsylvania sports betting officially launched on Nov. 17, 2018. That’s when Penn National Gaming and partner William Hill opened up a retail sportsbook at the Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course in Grantville.
Since then, seven more retail PA sports betting operations have launched at various casinos and off-track betting parlors. A ninth retail sportsbook will start taking bets in June 2019 and two more are in the application pipeline as well.
PA online sports betting welcomed its first mobile app when PlaySugarHouse.com opened its virtual betting windows on May 28, 2019. It shouldn’t take too long for the rest of the PA sportsbooks to follow suit.
Now that online sports betting in PA is a reality, the answer to the question of where you can bet on sports in PA will be a simple one: Anywhere inside state lines where you can access the internet.

SugarHouse Sportsbook
SugarHouse Casino in Philadelphia launched a temporary sportsbook on Dec. 15, 2018. SugarHouse has begun construction and will launch a permanent sportsbook sometime in 2019. The casino also plans to launch the state’s first PA sports betting app in May 2019.
The SugarHouse Sportsbook features six live betting windows and 12 self-service sports betting kiosks.
The sportsbook runs on Kambi software and offers a Betslip Builder App online allowing players to see live odds and create betslips ahead of a visit.
Hollywood Casino Sportsbook
Penn National Gaming and partner William Hill opened up the state’s first sportsbook at the Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course in Grantville on Nov. 17, 2018.
There is also a plan to launch a PA sports betting app and PA sports betting site in the summer of 2019.
In the meantime, the Hollywood Casino Sportsbook takes bets at six live betting windows and self-service sports betting kiosks on the property.
Rivers Sportsbook
Rivers Sportsbook in Pittsburgh launched a temporary sportsbook on Dec. 15, 2018. Rivers plans to launch a permanent sportsbook sometime in 2019.
The Rivers Sportsbook features six live betting windows and 18 self-service sports betting kiosks.
Rivers Sportsbook runs on Kambi software and offers a Betslip Builder App online allowing players to see live odds and create usable betslips in advance of placing a bet.
Parx Sportsbook
Parx Casino in Bensalem jumped in the PA sports betting market on Jan. 10, 2019 with the launch of a temporary sportsbook location. Parx is building a $10 million 10,000-square-foot permanent sportsbook on the property with plans to open in the summer of 2019. It also hopes to have a PA sports betting app online by then.
The temporary Parx Sportsbook now features seven live betting windows and 45 self-service sports betting kiosks available 24 hours a day across the casino floor.
Parx Sportsbook is one of several in the state powered by Kambi. It also runs on GAN software and has a Betslip Builder App available offering a live look at the odds and the ability to create betslips remotely.
South Philadelphia Race & Sportsbook
Parx’ South Philadelphia Turf Club off-track betting parlor in Philadelphia’s Stadium District was re-branded as the South Philadelphia Race & Sportsbook when it started taking sports bets on Jan. 17, 2019.
The sportsbook includes seven live betting windows and nine self-service sports betting kiosks. Like Parx, it’s running on Kambi and GAN software.
The Book at Harrah’s Philadelphia
The Book at Harrah’s Philadelphia launched on Jan. 24, 2019 at Harrah’s Philadelphia in Chester. Harrah’s Philadelphia also has plans to launch a PA sports betting app using the same Scientific Games software it employs at The Book.
For now, The Book at Harrah’s Philadelphia takes bets at six live betting windows and various self-service sports betting kiosks at the sportsbook and on the casino floor.
Valley Forge Race & Sportsbook
Parx’ Valley Forge Turf Club off-track betting parlor in Oaks was re-branded as the Valley Forge Race & Sportsbook when it started taking sports bets on March 6, 2019.
It features six live betting windows and 14 self-service sports betting kiosks. Like all Parx sportsbooks, it’s running on Kambi and GAN software.
The FanDuel Sportsbook at the Valley Forge Casino
The FanDuel Sportsbook at the Valley Forge Casino launched on March 13, 2019, just outside of Philadelphia in King of Prussia. FanDuel and Valley Forge Casino are also working on a plan to launch a PA sports betting app in June 2019.
In the meantime, the retail operation has seven live betting windows and is awaiting regulatory approval to install self-service sports betting kiosks.
The sportsbook runs on IGT software.

BetAmerica Sportsbook
Presque Isle Downs & Casino owner Churchill Downs will launch a BetAmerica-branded sportsbook on the property June 1, 2019. It’s plan is to also launch a PA sports betting app soon after.
The retail sportsbook will feature live betting windows and up o 50 self-service sports betting kiosks. SBTech is Churchill Downs’ sports betting software partner.
BetStarsPA/FOX Bet/Mount Airy
The Stars Group has partnered with Mount Airy Casino on plans to launch retail and online and mobile sports betting operations in PA sometime in 2019.
While it was originally thought these operations would come with The Stars Group BetStars brand attached, a recent deal with FOX Sports calls that into question. FOX Sports is certainly a better-known brand in the US and The Stars Group is already planning to launch FOX Bet-branded sports betting operations in other states.
Unibet PA Sportsbook
Kindred Group has partnered with Mohegan Sun Pocono on plans to launch online and mobile sports betting operations in PA sometime in 2019. The operations are likely to carry the Unibet brand.
